We suggest a 5 day tour around the Westfjords. The Westfjords are the best kept secret of Iceland. Have you ever been by the sea and up in the mountains at the very same time? This is what you can experience in a visit to the Westfjords. Rugged landscape and yet welcoming. You can take a close look wild birds.

Price 33.500 Ikr pr/person. Accommodation and/or food not included in the price. One night stay in Reykholar county, 3 nights in Isafjordur.  A museum of fishing by Bolungarvik

Tours to the westfjords can be arranged if 6 or more book.

Day 1:
We set off  at 8 am from Reykjavik on 4 June, 3 July or 4 August.  We drive through the pretty Whalefjord, across some heaths to the most  powerful hot-spring in Europe at Deildartunga. After a short stop we continue onto the historic site of  Reykholt where we will have time to look round and have lunch.  In the afternoon we visit the Dalir (Valleys), where there’s a replica of an early  Icelandic farm settlement.   After leaving Dalir we make our way to Reykholar where we will be spending the night.  In the evening we offer a tour of the area visiting an old church and drive through spectacular landscape with views across the many small islands.

Day 2:
Departing  at 9 am we drive over to the ‘head’ of Iceland – the westfjords with the high mountain roads, along the coast to Hotel Flokalundur where we stop for lunch. Flokalundur is where one of Iceland’s first settlers landed and  the area is named after him. We will visit Dynjandi, a magnificient waterfall that looks like a shawl. Nearby we will stop at the museum in memory of Iceland’s first president. After driving across three mountains, we come to Isafjordur, the capital of the westfjords.

Day 3:
A day of leisure where one can go on a boat tour to the unspoiled nature on the other side of “The Deep”.  “The Deep” is the longest and deepest fjord on the Westfjords.

Day 4:
There will be an arranged coach trip to visit  some of the small fishing villages located in the long, narrow fjords. We will take a look at a museum showing ancient tools and equipment for fishing and a workshop for handcrafts. Weather permitting we will visit the top of mount Bull with the marvellous views. Alternativiely we will drive to the northern part where unspoiled nature welcomes us. We will return to Isafjordur in the afternoon.

Day 5:
Leaving at 8 am, we drive along the coastal road to Hotel Reykjanes where we will stop for an early light lunch. Driving around The ‘Deep’, we will have a chance to view nature in the wild with all the local seabirds, eider ducks, puffins, oyster catchers, greylag goose and the beautiful scenery. We may even be lucky and see seals. We will arrive back in Reykjavik between 18:00 and 19:00.
